Barbara Di Creddo
You can take a babe away from the beach, but you can't take the beach out of a Brazilian babe like Barbara Di Creddo. Dressed up in leather pants and heels out to dinner in SoHo, or softly lit against a white studio backdrop, Barbara’s bronzed skin, messy sun-kissed locks and overall I-just-came-back-from-vacation-casual-attitude shines wherever she goes. It's all part of her innate je ne sais quoi that makes her so magnetic to be around.
Thanks to her mother’s pro basketball player genes — she grew up playing basketball and volleyball, too — Barbara’s limber body moves in front of the lens with cool effortlessness and lively rhythm. While her sultry gaze can bend any rock star to her will, its Barbara’s laughter, warmth and sense of humor that lingers in your memory. She’s the first to crack a sarcastic joke during a shoot, inevitably starting a ripple of contagious laughter on set. Traveling around the world on high stakes fashion jobs, Barbara has her pick of weekend getaways, but it's no surprise where you’ll find her: on the closest stretch of golden sand, with sunshine and waves. As this Brazilian beauty shares, “I love the beach, so every free time I have to run to the closest one to me!”
You’re the current face of Amuse Society, and have been the face of numerous other campaigns. How did you first get started into modeling? Was being a professional model something you always wanted to be?
I got into modeling when I was 15. I was found in the street in my hometown and my mom made me start modeling, I didn’t really want to in the beginning, but I went straight to New York City and started loving to travel!! I really love what I do today I wouldn't change it for the world.
How old were you when you moved from Brazil to NYC? Tell us about one of your first memorable auditions in the big apple.
The first time I went to New York I was 15, but I moved to the big city when I was about 17. When I first went to New York, I worked so much!! I did so many magazines, I pretty much worked every day, and I was so young! I remember the first casting I did, I was still learning how to walk or high heels so the client had to be a little patient with me haha.
While on the topic of NYC, can you share with us some of your favorite places (restaurants, shops, and more!) that a non-local might not know about? We want some insider intel ☺
New York has so many amazing restaurants, I change my favorite restaurant every month! This month I am in love with this Thai restaurant called Uncle Boons. It's in Soho and it's small and cozy and it's the best food I've ever had!!! If you go to new york you must eat there! Also i love ABC kitchen, they have amazing food, and a home store attached to it that is just a dream!
We were surprised to learn that your mother was a professional basketball player. Did you get her athletic gene? Tell us about some activities you like to do or hobbies you have when you’re not working.
So, yes, my mom was a basketball player, she played for many years and I used to travel around with her all the time!! I loved it! I played basketball and volleyball growing up, and today I play beach volleyball in summer, and I surf when I can! I love the beach, so every free time I have to run to the closest one to me!
One of the (many) things we adore about you is your sense of humor – you can make a room laugh! When is the last time you laughed uncontrollably?
I love laughing and I love making people laugh too! I just like having fun at work, I work every day with different people, and I just try to make the most of it otherwise what am I doing, you know? The last time I laughed uncontrollably was probably today at work goofing around with the crew!! and pretty much every time me and my best friend are together.
What is your go to look for day? For night?
My go-to look for the day is probably jeans and a t-shirt, I'm super basic (or boring! Haha). Lately, I've been wanting to dress-up more to go out these days, I've been wearing high heels, leather pants and a sexy t-shirt!
What are you listening to now?
I recycle music a lot. I've been going through a phase where I'm listening to Kasabian and The Black Keys again!! Going through a rock 'n' roll moment.
Who is your ultimate fashion muse?
I absolutely love Erin Wasson. I want to dress like her every day!
What does it mean to you to belong to Amuse Society?
Amuse has welcomed me with open arms and I'm really grateful for those girls! They really let me participate on the shoots, and it means a lot to see the brand do so well!! Congratulations to you guys, and thank you for everything!!!
