AMUSE in Dubrovnik

Guest post by Society babe and Editor-in-Chief of Live FAST Magazine Vivianne Lapointe

That feeling of bittersweet nostalgia when you reach your final destination… Here we were in Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic. At the tail end of our three-week journey, thousands of miles away from home, we found ourselves in the mood to settle down and do absolutely nothing but lay out in the sun and rethink our lives during long-winded, pricey seafood meals. We found our bliss on the Southern side of the old town. A cliff bar called Buza; a sunny hole in the wall where languorous service is made tolerable by the almighty sound of waves crashing against the rocks. Later that day, we took a taxi to the marina and lured a sailor to take us on a cruise in time for sunset.

The Çesme Peninsula

Guest post by Society babe and Editor-in-Chief of Live FAST Magazine Vivianne Lapointe

The Çesme peninsula is a hidden gem - a seaside getaway on the western Aegean coast loved by windsurfers and wealthy Turkish vacationers who prefer its rural character to the more touristy Bodrum. We rented a car from the Izmir airport and checked in to our private villa in a lovely vineyard that grows shiraz and grenache, less than 10 miles away from the Alaçati center. Walking around the narrow, picturesque cobble streets lined with stone houses, and blue shutters against whitewashed walls, I kind of felt like we were in Greece. We decided to spend the afternoon lounging at the Fly Inn Beach Club, ate some mussels fresh from the sea, had a few tequila shots and took a nap on the wooden beach chairs strategically placed so you could dip your feet in the crystal clear water while you doze off.

Amuse in Cappadocia

Guest post by Society babe and Editor-in-Chief of Live FAST Magazine Vivianne Lapointe.

In my wildest daydreams, the valley of Cappadocia will always remain this wonderfully understated Turkish paradise we discovered last summer; a mysterious, faraway land of fairy chimneys and mushroom-shaped police stations where young boys sell you fresh squeezed pomegranate juice and hot air balloons are able to take flight 300 out of 365 days. Our experience in Cappadocia would not have been the same without the help and undivided attention of our friends at Travel Atelier, the luxury concierge service that kindly showed us around and shared fascinating stories about the complex history of this whimsical destination. We particularly loved the cooking class with a local family - what a treat to try Manti (Turkish ravioli) for the first time in this context, and to connect (if only through the love of food) with women from another culture. On our first night, we opted to stay at the newly opened House Hotel Cappadocia in Ortahisar, a small municipality with a lively local scene - coffeehouses, barbershops, markets and museums. There, we had the best breakfast of our lives… One of the greatest ways to view the rippling hillsides of Cappadocia is a sunrise balloon ride miles above the sun-kissed earth. A seven AM dip in the pool of the Museum Hotel isn’t a bad way to watch the flight either… Trust me, you’ve got to see this landscape for yourself, especially before the secret’s out.
